While doing your shopping Avenue Montaigne in the centre of Paris you must stop by L'Avenue which is a very trendy restaurant. L'Avenue is located just near two of the most important French radios, so it’s always full of known people: politician, news reporters and top model.. Nothing special to say about Jacques Garcia’s decoration: it’s velvet and gold (bit boring).. Food are good and.. expensive... around 60 euros/person.. To see and to be seen..

Brouilly

Have just red James Taylor's comments regarding Brouilly. Yes, Brouilly is ALWAYS served cold - just like Rose.. and side plates for bread is an anglo thing. If you want warm wine, and bread and butter plates you could always try somewhere like Pizza Hut!!

After making a reservation via telephone on Dec 28,2007 for New Years Eve ..we arrived only to find the restaurant CLOSED. Why would someone take.a reservation and then be closed.. That's very BAD business to me. I will not try again or reccomend it to anyone else. Our night was not lost..we found a BETTER place OPEN and had a great meal..
cold red....

As James says from his visit this last weekend - the red wine was simply tooooo cold....

The rest of the dinner, atmosphere etc all made up for it however....

Its pricey - but its a capital city - and at the end of the day - what you are paying for is dependability, - the wine was at a nice tempreature by the time we had our main course and there was no rush - so I guess, picking up on the cold red ( not intentionally cold that is) was perhaps just being a little picky.....

I for one will be back...

Bad Experience

Last Friday evening I went for dinner at L'Avenue for the fifth time in recent years.
The service was awful. The waitress was more interested in checking how she looked in the mirror than offering friendly or attentive service.
I thought the red wine was too cold and was abruptly informed that Brouilly is always served cold, and who are you to question this??
No side plate for the bread, no butter knife, and at no time during dinner did the waitress ask me how the steak was cooked and if everything was to my liking.
The waitresses may be attractive, but the one who served me could learn a little about customer satisfaction.
James Taylor.

my expirience at L'avenue was amazing the food was great and my wife loved it as well. I started with a Croque monsier and my wife got the sea bass. for desert i had a GIGANTIC eclair which my wife had to help me finish :-D. The waitresses were as helpful as they were lovely
LOVED IT!

The food was lovely, especially the omelette with herb salad. My husband had a steak with the best mashed potatoes he says he's ever experienced. I then had the creamiest panna cotta with fresh mangoes and passion fruit pulp, which was exquisite and he had an enormous eclair which raised a few humourous eyebrows, but was eaten so fast that the laughter soon died down! He thought the waitresses were as lovely as the food, I couldn't possibly comment! We will return!
